General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679.
Is anyone else in Europe getting bored of getting e-mails from companies and websites you’ve used and may have data pertaining to you saying they are complying to the new data storage protocols that come in on the 25th May?
It’s a good thing. But does everyone have to e-mail everybody to say they are doing it, can’t they just put it on their header page or something?

Jesus Christ! Yes!
It’s especially annoying if the company is taking the opportunity to try and trick you to subscribe to their newsletter.

Mexico changed it’s data mining laws a few years ago and businesses need to be stupidly clear on how they’ll use your data, you can also refuse to give them anything and unless it’s a big important institution, like a bank, they’re still obligated to give you service.
I love the law and I don’t care if it was a nuisance when the websites all had to update their terms.

It’s like, we get it, it’s a new law and you must comply. Why do you have to tell us your doing it when we know you have to do it.

We’ve had similar, this is just tightening it up with further regulations.

It really is annoying, especially as they are all different, some saying click here to continue to keep receiving mail, others just an email to inform you of the gdpr (as if you didn’t know by now) and finally others email with an opt out link. Why can’t they be standardised ?

I have the impression that the new regulations demand that they inform you about their data storage, and that they now follow the new EU guidelines. In order to be legally secure, they need to do this in a way that can be documented, hence all these e-mails. If you think it is getting boring, think of all the small-scale companies and similar that has to navigate through this, fearing huge tickets if they do something wrong.

I just want them to have it on their website with the standard, ‘click here to acknowledge consent, click here to review what details we keep of you or click here to delete account’.

Well, just keep an eye on those regulations, May’s Brexit might do away with consumer protections akin to that.

It’s just a little annoying when me phone keeps binging to say I’ve a new e-mail and computer flashes up a notification that there is a new e-mail.
This on top of the six or seven e-mails I get when I buy something to say I’ll ordered an item, paid for an item, confirmation of the item, dispatch notification of the item, notification from the carrier to say they have the item, e-mail to say when it’ll be delivered and the name of the driver, e-mail on the morning of delivery of the item, e-mail with one hour window of delivery of the item, (possible) e-mail with GPS tracking of the vehicle with item on, e-mail to say it’s been delivered and who signed for it, e-mail asking me to review my purchase and final e-mail from the carrier to review their service.

Lol. Funny. They have been working on translating most of the E.U. laws into British law for several months now.

I guess, it makes sense. In the end some MEPs were english and they helped write some laws, but I wouldn’t be surprised if some private interest wanted to do away with some protections for their own sake.

Any laws that are being considered for non carry over must be put to review, then put to parliament and many cases have to go to the House Of Lords for approval for removal, etc... it’s very long winded and almost entirely no scope for ‘private interest’, even then each law carried over or not carried over is open to public view, etc...
If anyone has the wish to watch over all of it, they can. It’s all open and public.

Most are notifications that they are complying with a little subscribe option to receive e-mails for offers, like.

Be careful what you wish for, I was on a site ordering a new head unit for my car and it had that bit as a banner at the bottom of the page and the ok/accept button or whatever it said was hidden behind the live chat customer help popup thingy, which meant I couldn’t click on it to close it

I hate it when they do that crap.
I don’t know whether it’s deliberate or just laziness.
